Self-Assessment

Here are some question I have to answer about my studies and my blog!

  • What can I do that I couldn't do before?
  • What did I like most?
  • What are my greatest strengths and weaknesses?
  • What did I do well?
  • What am I confused about?
  • What do I need help with?
  • What did I do in English outside the class?
  • What do I need to improve?
  • What did I learn about culture?
Right know I can use a lot of new vocabulary and expressions  that I didn't know before! Also I have new grammatical structures very useful! Perhaps, what I most like are the projects with groups, because we had to decided a lot of things together ; with no dudes my favourite project is "Not stop the feeling" (The third question is really complicated) I think I'm always better speaking than writing, because while I'm writing I think a lot about the corrects structures and that produces me a lot of question that I don't have while I'm speaking, also I love the listening and the translations activities because  is not only translate the sentences , is thinking about them and who says in a correct way! To be honest I don't really know what I do well. I'm pretty confused in some grammatical structures because in the writings are in the correct way, but then when you hear in the natives English person (in Spain we do this too) they change that structures making an easier way to communicate .Another things are the adverbs , some have to be situated at the begginnig but others at the end! and of course some prepositions like at, in, on, of,

What a mess!

About culture our English book is very useful! I learnt some Australia or New Zeland traditions , how to make a blockbuster or how an exchange is!!!!

Whatever.

WE START A NEW UNIT !! Yes! It calls Storytelling!

We haven't learn any vocabulary yet, but here are some tips in grammar I want you remember( Almost all are my mistakes in the exam)

When you ask a question meaning something you did in the past the verb of the action ( Do, read, sleep) Is always in the infinitive form because you use a auxiliary verb (DID) That it is already in the past so you don't have the necessity of add another verb.
Ex:
Did you caught the train?
Did you catch the train?

In the modal verbs form(Click here to see an amazing chart my English teacher did)

The negative form of To Have in the past is not Hadn't Is Didn't have to

Also remember all the -s in the third person plural!

Hope I help you!

Geography: Our trip to Valladolid and Peñafil

Hey everyone!

How are you?

Guess what?

On Wednesday my grade made a trip to Valladolid!. Where is Valladolid? Valladolid is in Spain, in a region call Castilla y León. Valladolid is a very important city due to its historical an economic sector.

We travelled by bus .After cross all the city we arrived near Campogrande a very big park located in the centre of the cut.We walked to the Big Square and we had to cross a very long street call Santiago street, at the end of this street full of shops we found the Square. I have to say that it isn't as beautiful as our big square, but it wasn't horrible.

             Big Square
Our teachers gave us some time to buy food or watch the shops. There are a lot shop you can find everywhere so if you go to Valladolid I recommend you to enter in that shops you never hear about.

After that we went back to the bus.

We arrived in front of the Miguel Delibes, a cultural centre very famous here. There we listened the most strange music I never hear! The concert was based in the classical contemporary music (Musician that composed brilliant pieces in the 19 century) The concert played with very strange instruments, dancers.. In summary an amazing experience. Some people didn't like it because it was so strange , I really enjoyed it but I'm not very fan of this style.

When the concert finished, we all were hungry, so we ate our meal in front of Jose Zorrilla stadium! We had a lot of time to visit shops in a near shop centre also.

Then we went to Peñafiel.

          Views

Peñafiel is a village half and hour far away of Valladolid. As I said before, Valladolid is a very historical city and Peñafiel is very famous too because of the amazing castle it has .

The castle is a defensive castle. That mean that it wasn't the palace were the nobles life. This castle was a fortress. The views were amazing and our guide really knew interesting facts about the castle. One of the thing that called my attention was the boat shape the castle has! it is really surprising. Also in the interior of the castle we can fine the Wine museum. it teach you all the process of the creation and the different type of grapes. I'm not very interested on it but people can really enjoy!.

After our visited we went back home again, exhausted and tired. but we really had a good time and that the best part of the trip.

Geography: Describe a landscape

For this project, I have choose Gasadanlur in Denmark.

Gasadanlur is one of the most incredibles sea cliffs founded in Europe.

This amazing landscape is in Vága island , a part of the 18 islands, calls Faroe Islands that are located in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, between Iceland and Denmark.

It's a maritime climate, specifically a maritime subarctic.

Temperatures aren´t as mild as the rest of Europe because of the proximity with the Polar circle. This difference also produce that in summer they have 19 hours of sunlight! And in winter only 5 hours! The highest temperature they once had is 29º Degrees Celsius. Summers are cool with an average of 13º degrees and winters are mild (3º) .

Precipitations are abundant and regular, but due to the differents variations in the altitude ,in a part of an island can rain and in the other snow!

Rivers have a high regular flow.(There are only 6 rivers in all the islands)

About vegetation the most of the low areas are grasslands (As you can see in the picture)

The most part of the islands are formed of arctic plants, like moos,lichen... etc. There are no native forest in Faroe Islands,(Some studies prove that a long time ago, before the humans settlements, there could be little forests of birch and hazel trees)

The few forest are due to introduced species.

Fauna:The island is plenty of seabirds and maritime animals.

The land mammals have been all introduce by humans. the more popular species are :

The brown rat                     The mountain hare and              the house mouse
                                                                                              (or common mice)

But also, the feral sheep, is one of the most common animals. Its  exclusive in the Faroe islands , and the faroe pony.

The marine animals are:

The grey seal                   The long-finned pilots whales

There are also some whales too.

At last only remeber that every year, in summer long-finned pilots whales are killed in a horriblle slaughter in this islands  that paints the sea red!

See you soon!
